Catheter Kit

Typical Contents of a Catheter Kit

While contents vary, a common Foley catheter kit for surgery typically includes:

Catheter: The Foley catheter itself, with a balloon to secure it in the bladder. 

Antiseptic Solution: Solutions like povidone-iodine or Chloraprep swabs for disinfecting the insertion area. 

Gloves: Sterile gloves to maintain sterility and protect the healthcare provider. 

Lubricant: A sterile lubricating jelly to facilitate smooth catheter insertion. 

Collection Bag: A drainage bag to collect urine. 

Drapes: Sterile drapes and underpads to create a sterile field around the patient. 

Specimen Cup: A container to collect urine for testing. 

Prefilled Syringe: A sterile water syringe used to inflate the balloon on the Foley catheter.
