Preparation & Sterilization

Properly assembling surgical packs ensures the safety of the animal and efficiency for the veterinarian. The process involves the following steps:

Instrument Sorting: Clean, lubricated instruments are organized. Ratchets are left open to prevent metal warping and damage during heating.

Consumables: Exact numbers of gauze sponges and a sterilization indicator strip are added to the pack.

Double-Wrapping: The kit is double-wrapped in specialized medical-grade cloth or paper using a specific overlapping technique that leaves tabs for easy, sterile opening.

Autoclaving: Sealed packs are run through an autoclave. Indicator tape on the outside changes color (typically displaying black stripes) to confirm successful sterilization.
